Russian FM Sergey Lavrov to Visit Tehran This Week
WANA (Feb 22) – Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, announced that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Tehran this week.
According to Baghaei, Lavrov’s visit is part of ongoing consultations between Iran and Russia regarding bilateral relations, as well as regional and international developments.
During his visit, Lavrov is expected to meet with his Iranian counterpart and other senior officials to discuss the latest status of bilateral ties and key regional and global issues.
Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, confirmed in an interview on Saturday that Lavrov’s visit will be a one-day trip. He added that Lavrov will hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on bilateral, regional, and international matters.
According to some media sources, before traveling to Tehran, Lavrov is scheduled to visit Turkey earlier this week.
